The Philippine Association for Chinese Studies celebrated the organization’s milestones and achievements in the past year during the Moon Festival General Assembly last 25 September 2021.

PACS President Dr. Rommel Banlaoi shared PACS accomplishments amidst the COVID-19 pandemic period, as well as the plans and projects in the pipeline. These include the PACS social media platforms, publications, webinars, dialogues and exchanges, research grants, and the upcoming podcasts. In addition, Dr. Theresa Carino, founding president of PACS, shared the relevance and contribution of the organization to peacebuilding and the development of Philippine foreign policy.

The event also had a “Kamustahan Session,” which served as a venue for members to update each other about their experiences and recent activities. Honorary Fellow  Ambassador Wilfrido Villacorta and our current ambassador to China, Chito Sta. Romana, greeted the assembly.

Dr Tan Cho Chiong, PACS board member, gave a brief talk on traditional Chinese medicine tips to boost one’s immunity. The event ended with Honorary Fellow Jaime Florcruz singing his Tagalog translation of the modern classic song, The Moon Represents My Heart.

The PACS Moon Festival General Assembly drew 49 attendees for the live presentation, and a recording of the occasion is posted online for viewing on the PACS Facebook Page and Youtube channel.
